Joshua Holtz

Josh is a Senior Consultant with 13 years of professional experience spanning consulting, chemical engineering, artificial intelligence, and product development. He began his consulting career during his sophomore year of college and later spent six years as an independent consultant serving notable clients in the Houston area. Along the way, he developed a passion for engineering through self-study and formalized that foundation with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Texas Tech University. Josh went on to spend six years at Dow Chemical, where his work combined chemical plant production engineering with full-stack AI engineering. As AI evolved from a supporting feature into a product category of its own, he deepened his technical expertise by earning a master's degree in Computer Science from Rice University. He also founded an AI company where he invented and launched a mixed-reality video game for cats — a project that reflects his ability to connect emerging technology, product thinking, and unconventional problem spaces. At Improving, Josh brings a cross-disciplinary background, a builder's mindset, and a career defined by solving unusual problems across industries — and occasionally across species.
