A Global Program with Flexible, Inclusive Events
One of the defining strengths is our global reach. Throughout the year, the initiative hosts four to five global virtual or hybrid events, bringing women together across regions, time zones, and roles. These sessions vary in format, with some fully virtual and others hybrid, making them accessible to remote employees while still fostering connection for those who are able to gather in person.
The events are designed to encourage openness and shared experience. Topics often center on universal challenges women face in technology, such as career confidence, self-advocacy, imposter syndrome, work-life balance, and personal well-being. A core goal of these events is to create emotionally safe spaces where women can speak honestly, share real challenges, and learn from one another without pressure to perform or “have it all figured out”.
While global events provide a unifying foundation, we also work to localize by office. Each office has a leader who helps bring women together in their city, encourages participation in global sessions, and hosts in-person gatherings when possible. Local events allow women to build deeper relationships with colleagues in their own offices, strengthening trust and collaboration across teams.
“There are challenges that are still universal for women all over the world, like navigating careers, balancing life at home, and dealing with things like imposter syndrome. Our global events intentionally focus on those shared experiences, creating space for women to feel supported and know they’re not alone.” — Bethany Hilton, Director of Corporate Affairs
Extending Impact Beyond Improving
This isn’t solely an internal initiative. It also encourages women to serve as visible role models beyond Improving by speaking to students, volunteering in the community, and engaging with young women who are still exploring potential career paths. This external focus reflects a belief that supporting women in technology starts long before a job offer, helping more women see themselves in the industry in the first place. By sharing real stories and lived experiences, participants help demystify technology careers and show that there is no single “right” path into tech.
Why Investing in Women Strengthens Our Work
As an IT consulting company, Improving operates in an industry where women remain underrepresented and are more likely to leave over time. Women of Improving directly addresses this challenge by simply giving women the opportunity to be visible and find belonging.
The initiative also challenges a common misconception about the industry: that technology careers are incompatible with the realities of women’s lives. In practice, IT is uniquely positioned to support women through different life stages, responsibilities, and needs with remote work and flexible structures. Women of Improving helps reframe that narrative, reinforcing that technology can be a sustainable and rewarding long-term career.
Ultimately, this initiative is a reflection of who we are as a company. It demonstrates Improving’s commitment to building a culture where every type of person can bring their full selves to work, grow with confidence, support one another, and help shape the future of technology together.
